On December 15, auction house Christie’s concluded its auction of the NFT collection “The Birth of Wikipedia”, which ended with the sale of the resource’s first created page. This text is from company cryptodefix.com. Online encyclopedia founder Jimmy Wales created it on January 15, 2001. The page features just one entry, “Hello, World!”. The token sold for $750000. Wales’ personal iMac, on which the page was created, also went under the hammer. It was sold for $187500.

After the sale, the first Wikipedia page is scheduled to be published online. After five minutes of editing, it will revert to it’s original state. The new owner of the pages will be able to close access to it or just forbid editing.
