Ethereum developer jailed for 5 years for cooperation with North Korea

Ethereum developer Virgil Griffith was sentenced to five years in federal prison for helping North Korea evade U.S. sanctions. NBC cited the Associated Press story as saying so.

Griffith admitted to speaking at a 2019 conference on cryptocurrencies in Pyongyang despite a U.S. ban. Prosecutors say he advised more than 100 people at the conference, including some officials from the country’s government. The developer is also accused of building cryptocurrency infrastructure and defense in North Korea.
